External Manufacturing - Value Engineering



Department Description : External Final Manufacturing
Value Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, and Yields. Responsible for Xxxxxxxxx manufacturing in sub contract manufacturing sites.  

Drive manufacturing cost reduction through operational savings (Lean) and assembly material or manufacturing optimization (Value Engineering).




  • Provide leadership, facilitation and coaching to operational teams to develop and implement Lean practices.
  • Train and develop change agents and lean subject matter experts at suppliers; transfer knowledge to key sub-cons to enable sustainable improvement.
  • Identify material cost savings opportunities and drive projects to realize savings.
  • Develop clean sheet models to validate improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate across different levels and disciplines of the organization to influence the implementation of the various opportunities.
  • Develop target pricing for different products, both within the organization and that are manufactured by external vendors.
  • Develop a bottom-up cost model, negotiation plan, required analyses/backup, and track progress against objectives, for major package families.
  • Ability to travel to factories in multiple countries such as Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and China.                                      



Professional / academic background


  • Solid academic achievement. MBA or Masters degree in engineering or related technical area preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in supply chain or operations, including implementation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering and leadership experience in assembly manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership experience in procurement, materials management and planning desirable.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed manufacturing operations
  • Several successful years and cycles of Lean implementation and transformation.
  • Experience / ability to train, coach, and implement Lean tools including One A3/A4 Page/5 Why Problem Solving Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow Design, Policy / Goal Deployment, Standard Work, Pull / Kanban, TPM, SMED, 5S and Visual Control, Business and Operational Metrics, etc..
  • Understanding and practical application of constraint management and de-bottlenecking.
